One day or two days?

You can see both canyons in a single day from Las Vegas, but it is an 18-hour push. Here is what you gain and lose with the one-day dash, the two-day tour and the longer loops.

Las Vegas to Page is about 270 miles, Page to the South Rim about 135, and the South Rim back to Las Vegas about 275. That is around 680 miles of driving whichever tour you choose.

The real question is how you split it.

The quick answer

One day: from about $328, 18 hours, a midnight start and about 40 minutes per Grand Canyon stop. Two days: from about $400, a hotel night, Zion as a bonus and about three hours at the rim. Three days: from about $800, adds Bryce and Monument Valley with most meals included.

How do the formats compare?

The extra day buys sleep, Zion, and about three times as long at the Grand Canyon.

Can you really do both canyons in one day?

Yes, on tours that leave Las Vegas around midnight and return about 18 hours later.

Guests say it is a very long day but worth it if you only have a short stay in Las Vegas. You sleep in the van, see the Grand Canyon around dawn, then Horseshoe Bend and Antelope Canyon in the afternoon.

Is the one-day tour cheaper overall?

Slightly: about $70 less on the ticket, but the two-day tour includes a hotel and breakfasts that would cost you more than that.

Both add meals and tips, and both charge non-US residents the $100 park fee. The two-day tour also adds a $30 guide service fee.

What do you gain with the two-day tour?

A full night's sleep, Zion National Park, and about three hours at the South Rim instead of two short stops.

You also start at 6 AM rather than midnight. Read the two-day tour in detail for the full itinerary.

When is the three-day loop worth it?

When you also want Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley and prefer meals sorted for you.

It doubles the price but includes two hotel nights, most meals, the park fees for US residents, Lower Antelope Canyon and a Navajo tour of Monument Valley.

What if I only want Antelope Canyon?

Take the Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend day tour: about 15 hours, from about $160, with lunch.

It is the most reviewed tour in this group and avoids the national park fees entirely, because neither stop is a national park.

Which is better with kids or older travelers?

The two-day tour: a normal bedtime and shorter days make a big difference.

Parents report kids as young as 8 coping with the one-day tour, but it is a lot to ask. Lower Antelope's stairs and Horseshoe Bend's 1.5-mile round trip are manageable for most.

Should I just drive myself?

If you are comfortable with long desert drives, yes, but you still need to book Antelope Canyon with a Navajo guide.

A rental car gives you sunrise at the rim on your own terms. Reserve a timed Antelope tour in Page and see Upper vs Lower Antelope first.
